About Weston Warrior Lacrosse....

Entering its 17th season beginning January 2011
The Weston Warrior Lacrosse Club Inc.  (501(c)(3) will be entering its seventeenth season beginning January 2011.

This is not an "in-house" league!  We are a travel recreational league who competes over four counties.  Our competitive program is committed to the success and promotion of the sport of lacrosse within the rules established by the South Florida Youth Lacrosse League.

Number Of Teams

All teams will fill quickly.  We will not be accepting registrations after the teams are full.

Currently the intended breakdown for 2011 is as follows:

K-2      = 2 team

3-4       = 1 team

5-6       = 2 teams

7-8       = 2 teams

G3-5    = 1 team

G6-8    = 2 teams

2011 Fees and Rules

The registration fee includes city recreation fee, US Lacrosse membership and insurance, referee fees and other costs incurred to support the entire program.  Players keep their uniforms at seasons end.  Also each player will receive a give away item at both the beginning and end of the season (recent examples include wicking shirts, hoodie sweatshirts, ball caps...).  We don't do fundraisers, we don't charge for Sunday clinics and we don't charge for either our kick off picnic or year end awards or season ending party.

Boys Grades 3-8 Fees = $250

Girls Grades 3-8 Fees = $250

Girls and Boys K-2 Fees = $150

If a player must drop out for any reason the following refund schedule will apply due to jersey orders and promotional giveaways:

1 week = 75%, 2 weeks = 50%, 3 weeks+ = No refunds

***Rules**: Players play at grade level.  League rules do not allow players to play up or down regardless of skill level or parent requests. The only exception allows for 2nd grade girls to play at either the K-2 coed level or play up on the girls 3-5 team. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Equipment

Players are required to purchase their own equipment which includes: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads and a stick for boys.  Girls are required to wear lacrosse goggles, and of course have a girls stick.   There are arrangements with local vendors to provide reasonably priced equipment for beginners. There is some limited equipment available at the Bantam Division (K-2) for loan which requires all protective gear for boys.

Division Level Play and Practice Requirements:

The Bantam Division (coed grades K-2) is the first program of its kind started in South Florida.  It is a developmental level designed to teach young players basic fundamentals.  The 2007 season was the first travel season for this level and they had a great start with a record of 8-1.  The Bantams play on a shortened field with a barrier type goalie.  It is a great way to introduce your youngster to Lacrosse.  It is a great way for moms and dads to start to learn the sport as well. This level travels locally, practices two nights a week and plays games on Saturday mornings. To the best of the coaches ability play time will be equal for all players assuming players come to practice and make a genuine effort. Girls playing at this level must wear full protective gear. Contact is incidental.

Boys Lightning Level (grades 3-4) practices two nights a week and plays games on Saturdays also occasionally during the week with geographically closer teams.  This is a competitive level of play with limited contact. Practice attendance is required to be eligible to participate in games, but does not guarantee a specified amount of play time.

Boys Juniors Level (grades 5-6) practices three nights a week and plays games on Saturdays also occasionally during the week with geographically closer teams. This is a competitive level of play with game required contact. Practice attendance is required to be eligible to participate in games, but does not guarantee a specified amount of play time.

Boys Senior Level (grades 7-8) practices three nights a week and plays games on Saturdays also occasionally during the week with geographically closer teams. This is a competitive level of play with game required contact. Practice attendance is required to be eligible to participate in games, but does not guarantee a specified amount of play time.

Girls Junior and Senior Levels (Juniors 3-5, Seniors 6-8) practices two nights a week and plays games on Saturdays also occasionally during the week with geographically closer teams.  This is a competitive level of play with no contact. Practice attendance is required to be eligible to participate in games, but does not guarantee a specified amount of play time.
